A door lock is the door’s face. The first thing you notice standing in front of a door is the lock. The need for protection aside, it is very important that you don’t jump the gun while buying a door lock as you wouldn’t want your home and office to have the same locks.
There are so many different types of door locks because there are different levels of security and different types of doors for which you need a lock. They act as the barrier to keep your facility and workspace safe and help maintain privacy.

Dead Bolt
Also called a dead lock, this has a double locking mechanism separate from the doorknob that gives an additional layer of security. This is a pretty common choice given its ease of handling and making it impossible for burglars to break into. Door Closer
Not technically a lock, a door closer is a civilised addition to our doors preventing them from slamming and thus breakage. These are filled with hydraulic fluid that dampen the door swing to control its operation.
Pin Tumbler Locks
A locking mechanism that uses key pins of various lengths which are rounded to permit the key to enter the plug. These locks have a polished look to them and are mostly made from bronze. Apart from offering great security, they make a very satisfying sound when the key slides in!
Cylindrical Locksets
Designed to be installed through doors with a knob or level on either side that retract the latch when turned or depressed. It is very easy to install and offers a different grip.
Moritse Locksets
A specific type of lockset used in commercial establishments that requires a pocket— the mortise— to be cut into the edge of the door or piece of furniture into which the lock is to be fitted. This is a very common choice and allows for much more working mechanism. A mortise lock is quite powerful and perfect for external doors.
Rim Locks
The OG of locksets. Rim locks have a very basic rectangular design that comprise a deadbolt lock and latch. An ideal choice of vintage properties as they complement the features of the building.
Padlock
A portable lock that has a U-shaped shackle which is attached to the body of the lock. This shackle is unlocked only with the key or the correct combination of code. This is a lock type that is not permanently attached to the door and comes primarily in two variations: keyed and combination.
